How Familiae Came to Be
Familiae started quietly, in 2019, in a small meeting room in Ekkamai. A group of people — educators, an archivist, and a long-time community facilitator — had each noticed the same thing independently: families in Bangkok were struggling to find low-key, practical spaces to simply talk and organise their shared histories.
Most offerings in the city at the time leaned heavily toward therapy or mediation. These serve real purposes, but they are not what every family needs. Many just want somewhere to sit together, hear one another's stories, and build something tangible — a folder, a record, a feeling of connection.
That is the gap Familiae set out to fill. We are not therapists and we do not claim to be. We are facilitators and organisers — and we are very deliberate about that distinction. Every session we run is educational in scope, and we consistently point participants toward qualified professionals whenever individual matters require it.
What We Are Here to Do
Our mission is straightforward: give families practical, pressure-free tools for connection. Whether that means learning to listen a little better across generations, assembling a keepsake folder from old photographs and documents, or joining a peer community of families on a similar path — we want every activity to leave participants with something real.
We work in English, and we recognise that Bangkok is home to families from many different cultural backgrounds. Our facilitation takes that diversity seriously — we do not assume a single family model or a single set of values.

Nantawan Prasit
Founder & Lead Facilitator
Nantawan has spent fifteen years facilitating group learning experiences in community settings across Thailand. She leads the Conversation Workshop programme and shapes the overall approach at Familiae.
James Kowalczyk
Records & Archives Specialist
James trained as an archivist in Warsaw and has worked with personal document collections for over a decade. He runs the Family Tree & Records Organising activity and designs all our record-keeping frameworks.
Arunee Manee
Community & Membership Lead
Arunee coordinates the Generations Membership community and ensures all shared spaces remain warm, educational, and supportive. She has a background in adult education and community programme management.

Educational Integrity
All content is designed and delivered as general education. We never offer individual advice, diagnoses, or recommendations framed as professional guidance.
Discretion with Information
Personal stories and documents shared during sessions are handled with full discretion. We do not store, share, or reference participant content outside of the session itself.
Referring Appropriately
When a participant's needs go beyond what educational facilitation can address, we actively and clearly direct them toward qualified professionals and official bodies.
Inclusive Facilitation
Sessions are designed with Bangkok's multicultural family landscape in mind. No single family model is assumed or privileged in how we frame our workshops.

Family Communication Skills and Record-Keeping in Bangkok
Familiae sits in Ekkamai, Watthana — a part of Bangkok with a long-established international community and a growing interest in structured activities that bring families together outside of formal clinical settings. Our workshops are open to expatriate and Thai families alike, and we conduct all sessions in English.
The Family Roots Conversation Workshop addresses something many families find quietly difficult: the skill of talking across generational lines without the conversation stalling or turning tense. We look at listening posture, how stories are framed, and how to hold space for perspectives that differ from our own. These are general communication skills with broad application — not scripts for any particular family situation.
Our records organising activity serves a different but equally practical need. Many families have boxes of photographs, old documents, and half-remembered names that have never been sorted. The activity provides a framework for doing that sorting together — and the result is a simple folder the family can keep, pass around, and add to over time.
The Generations Membership is for families who want to stay engaged over time, access an expanding library of story-keeping templates, and connect with other families working through similar questions. It remains strictly educational and community-focused — individual situations are always referred to appropriate professionals.
